Serving Our Client AND Healing the System
I once saw a centuries old adage etched in marble, which read “a lawyer heals the ills of society.” Such a powerful statement, but what lawyer has time for that?
We are overwhelmed with demands, burdened with running a business and wearied by the juggernaut adversarial battles inflicted upon us by opposing counsel. And let’s not forget about those unreasonable client expectations. We are so consumed by the daily ravages of the practice, it’s a wonder, who actually has the time to change the world.
Charles Hamilton Houston once said that a lawyer is either a social engineer or a parasite on society. We can either improve society, or we will just suck the very life from it for our own individual gain.
The truth is that we can serve our clients AND heal the system, too. And I can’t wait to tell you how.
